Celebrating Activities Professional's Week

January 23rd through January 27th is celebrated as Activities Professional's Week. We recognized the holiday by acknowledging our hard-working Activities Team and all they do for our residents. Darby Glenn is lucky to have two amazing activity professionals on our team, Fatou and Kassie. These two go above and beyond for our residents to ensure they are engaged and have plenty of fun activities to partake in.

Fatou has been Darby Glenn’s Activity Director since the building opened in 2010. She is committed to making sure our residents are happy and enjoying their time here. Fatou started her career in healthcare as a Nurse Aide in 2006. Starting as an Aide made Fatou realize how much she enjoyed working with seniors.

Fatou reflects on her career as an Activity Director by sharing, “We have a very positive and supportive work environment. Everyone is always willing to help with activities too. It is our mission to ensure every resident is happy and fulfilled. Our team truly cares about every resident. Darby has also provided me with the opportunity for professional development."

Kassie has been Fatou’s Activities Assistant for the past two years. Fatou plans the activity calendar a month in advance so all the residents know the fun events they have to look forward to. As a reminder, all of our families are always welcome to join these events. Happy Hour Fridays, Bingo, and Ice Cream Social Parties are just a few of our residents' favorites.

Together, they are quite the duo! Anything residents need, Fatou and Kassie make sure it is provided. They do so much for our facility beyond activities, including having our common spaces beautifully decorated for holidays. Our activities room is at the entrance of our facility, making for a fun and welcoming environment as soon as you walk in.



Our residents had so many nice things to say about our Activities Team when they were told what we were celebrating this week. One of our residents, Pam, wrote a beautiful poem in honor of Fatou and Kassie.

Roses are Red

Violets are Blue

We honor two special ladies

Not one, but two.

Here at Darby Glenn

Two women stand out.

They are Fatou and Kassie

So have no doubt.

In their own special way,

From exercises to snacks

Happy hour and bingo

They give it their best.

We have a sharp team,

Who sing and dance.

They work tirelessly

To bring us some joy.

They are always so helpful

From a smile to a greeting

And all around cheerful.

As most of you do.

So let's get crafting

And tie dying too!

We are so lucky to have these two amazing individuals working for our residents to make this facility a fun place to be. Thank you, Fatou and Kassie, for your constant creativity and positivity! We appreciate you so much!
