National Housekeeper Week 2023

September 13th, 2023
Every year, during the second week of September, we celebrate National Housekeeping Week. This is a time when we come together to recognize the unseen heroes who work tirelessly to maintain the cleanliness and safety of Darby Glenn. Their vital role in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for our residents cannot be overstated.

Our housekeepers work hard to keep our residents happy by creating a comfortable environment for them every day. From cleaning and sanitizing resident rooms to disinfecting common areas and mopping the halls; these dedicated professionals work to keep our resident rooms fresh. Their goal is to ensure the overall well-being of residents by keeping their areas tidy and clean. Their hard work allows Darby Glenn to have an inviting area for families to visit their loved ones and residents to thrive. Our housekeeping staff disinfects high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs and handrails to minimize the risk of infections. They ensure the upkeep of our office areas and bathrooms. They go above and beyond to make our facility presentable and lively.

Our residents spend a significant portion of their lives in the facility and it is essential that their living spaces are comfortable and clean. Our housekeeping team does a fantastic job at developing close relationships with our residents and respecting the privacy of everyone as they do their work. They listen to resident’s preferences and take into consideration what makes them most comfortable. This approach allows residents to maintain their sense of dignity and autonomy, which is crucial for their emotional well-being.

One of our housekeepers, Katie, tells us about her job at Darby Glenn, “We do what we do for the residents. I know that my entire team looks forward to coming to work every day just to put a smile on a resident’s face when their room is cleaned.” We are so grateful to have Katie working on our housekeeping team and helping our residents.

We showed our support to our housekeeping team this week by decorating their workspace, giving each housekeeper a backpack, badge reel, snack basket, and hosting a team luncheon. Keeping the facility clean and comfortable is a huge responsibility that often goes unnoticed. It is important that we recognize those individuals who work behind the scenes to make our facility great.
