Celebrating Receptionists Day
May 10, 2023
National Receptionists Day is an annual event celebrated on the second Wednesday of May every year. This day is dedicated to recognizing the vital role played by receptionists in all organizations and businesses. In a nursing home setting, receptionists ensure smooth and efficient operations are in order. They are the first point of contact for visitors, residents and staff, and their friendly, professional demeanor helps set the tone for the entire facility. National Receptionists Day gives everyone an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of their receptionists.
In honor of this holiday, we would like to showcase our amazing receptionist, Wanda! Wanda has been working for Darby Glenn for the past two years. She started here as our receptionist and has done such a fantastic job that she was promoted to handle the scheduling of resident appointments and transportation. Wanda began her career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse in 1976. Her educational background consists of a bachelor's in Healthcare Business Management and a master's in Healthcare Public Administration.
We are so grateful to have such an intelligent and dedicated receptionist working at the front of our facility, welcoming our visitors and answering all calls. If Wanda were to describe her career at Darby Glenn in three words, they would be amazing, loving and ever-changing. She really enjoys developing relationships with the residents and staff members.
When asked what keeps her motivated throughout the day, Wanda responded,
“Knowing that I am able to care and encourage the residents to be happy. I love creating a positive impact in their lives and the lives of the staff who work with me. I enjoy coming to work every day and collaborating with my team.” Wanda has always had a heart for helping others, and we're glad she can spread that positivity and warmth to our facility.
In her free time, Wanda loves crafting, sewing and reading. She is very creative! Wanda spends time making wreaths for every holiday and event. She lost the love of her life in 1994 but keeps his memory alive through their three children, Brent, Heather and Todd. Now, Wanda has thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren! She also has a cat named Loki and a dog named Remi. Wanda is passionate about caring for others, personal growth and enhancing her relationships with family and friends. She loves grabbing dinner with her friends, seeing the newest movie with them in theaters, and in the summer, you can find her cheering her grandson on at his baseball games!
We are so lucky to have Wanda as our receptionist at Darby Glenn. Her hard work and dedication to our residents do not go unnoticed. If you know anyone working as a receptionist in any field, please take the time to wish them a happy Receptionists Day and thank them for all they do. A simple thank you text or call of gratitude truly goes a long way. Happy Receptionists Day!
