Darby Glenn Wins Last Tray Standing Competition

We are so proud to announce that Darby Glenn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center won Last Tray Standing in our division! Big congratulations to our amazing Dietary Manager, Erin, for this achievement. We are so lucky to have her leading our Dietary Team in serving delicious and nutritious meals to our residents. This accomplishment shows just how much Erin cares about bringing tasty meals to Darby Glenn!

The purpose of the Last Tray Standing competition was to bring all eight buildings in our division together. Each manager was asked to make a meal that they would typically serve to residents. Three judges from our corporate office voted on which dish they enjoyed the most while judging on presentation, taste, and temperature. Erin blew the judges away with her tacos, cornbread, and margaritas! She has prepared this meal for our residents at the facility’s happy hour, and our residents can attest to how delicious it tastes! They love it so much that this is their preferred meal of choice at the end of the month.



This was Erin’s first competition with Foundations Health Solutions and she was excited to see what she could create. Erin shared her thoughts on the competition and working at Darby Glenn by saying, “It was a fun experience participating in Last Tray Standing. I love cooking for our residents and giving them new dishes to try. I enjoy creating special moments for the residents with different food themes that they will remember. I try to make food that isn’t on their normal menu for happy hour and monthly cookouts so they can experience new things. It was nice to be able to bring those dishes to the judges!”



This achievement is a true estimate of how hard Darby Glenn's Dietary Team works to provide quality care to our residents. Not only are quality and taste of food important, but cleanliness and efficiency too. Our team does a fantastic job at keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean at all times. We have recently updated the floors in our kitchen, making for a bright and new environment for our team to cook. We have also added some major upgrades to make meal passes more efficient. Our team is so happy to be able to serve hot meals to our residents off of our new steam table. We installed this steam table in order to serve right from the kitchen. This new system has allowed us to serve all 100 residents within record time! We are so proud of how far our team has come to be able to serve this quickly.

Along with providing delicious meals to our residents, our Dietary Manager, Erin, is actively involved in the Resident and Food Council. Meetings are held on a regular basis in order to hear our residents’ opinions on different topics. She makes sure to take any constructive criticism from these meetings and apply it to the current kitchen process. Since starting at Darby Glenn in July 2022, Erin has set a high standard for the kitchen and has worked very hard to strengthen our meal pass system. We are so grateful for such a strong leader in our Dietary Department that listens to our residents' needs and wants to deliver the best product possible for them.
